Avinash Chandra was born in 1931 in Simla, India. After studying painting and teaching in New Dehli he moved to London in 1956. He went on to exhibit across Europe including several UK cities. Initially a landscape painter, specialising in depicting Indian towns, his preoccupations developed into an interest in female nudes and later in murals.
